1. YOU’RE TREATING A MARATHON LIKE A SPRINT You’re treating a marathon like a sprint Setting a New Year’s Resolution is a wonderful way to start the year ahead. I would encourage everyone reading this to do so. If you have not started it is never too late to do so because there is a stark difference between people who set goals and ones who don’t. People who set goals are effectively re-directing their mind to what they want. This is fundamental to success. People who don’t set goals get easily distracted as there is no structure to what they really want to achieve - their mind is haphazard, over-active, not focused. Let’s have a look at how you can make your New Year’s Resolution come through; Athletes who succeed at the top of their game are in it for the long haul. When you set a goal you have to be ready to fail initially. Factor this in, as part of the goal achievement process and look for wins (even the smallest ones) to motivate you forward and keep you moving Create a timeline with hard reviews. For instance, I would review my goal much more frequently every week initially. Then as you start to see results perhaps push back reviews to every month. If you don’t meet targets in one week, add this gap to next week’s target which means more hours and working harder Ensure you have created a realistic goal rather than one which is an over-ambitious target. The latter will only seek to de-motivate you because upfront, you know you will not be able to achieve the outcome. It is important to have fun and enjoy this goal realisation process. Crucial to the achievement of New Year’s resolutions is visualising what the outcome would look like when you have achieved this. What are you seeing, hearing and feeling? Who is there with you? Are they congratulating you? Do you feel the laughter rivet through your body? Calibrate the importance of your New Year’s Resolution. Ensure that you really want it 10 out of 10. If it’s a nice to have rather than a must have, the level of intention is not strong enough for you to persevere through the year. How will it enrich your life if you were to achieve this? Overall you need to align your conscious mind with your unconscious mind. What I mean by that is intention needs to flow with attention. Put energy in where it matters. The state of mind you need to be in consistently is one of focus. Be your word and your actions and you will succeed, like the marathon runner who eventually makes it to the finish line!
2. YOU HAVE A DEEP-ROOTED FEAR OF CHANGE You have a deep-rooted fear of change Change is not a word many people gravitate to. Most people I know love their comfort zone because of the familiarity it affords. People also believe change is not easy and takes years. These are myths! When working through your unconscious mind via your 5 senses, change is accelerated, easy and fun. Most people are still tagged to old models of change that take years because they are unaware of how the unconscious mind works. Negative emotions like anger, sadness, fear and guilt reside here. Unless removed from your cellular structure and energy field, these will continue to be in the drivers’ seat of your life. Hence when you set a goal, are focused on the future and feel all set raring to go, it is almost sure of falling short or never picking up at all. Negative emotions are the blockage and need to be cleared first which require the expertise of people who are trained to work with your unconscious mind. At this point, not knowing anything about your unconscious you may feel uncomfortable. Fair enough! There is no mystery about this. It merely means changing your pictures, sounds and feelings that you have created from past experience that may be creating negative outcomes. Let me give you some examples; I had a client who had a phobia of spiders. A phobia is fear-based. You might ask what does this have to do with my career? Everything!!! As long as there is fear in you, it will manifest in all parts of your life. Clearing the phobia took one session. We didn’t have a spider in the room or go through any scare tactics. This client’s life turned around from clearing that one phobia. Now he was ready to set goals. Another client had fear in her from an aggressive parent who threatened to get things done. She knew that stopped her in life but didn’t know how to eradicate it. Sharing how her timeline worked and acquainting her with her timeline was like a magical opening of awareness for her. She selfmanaged after clearing her fear and for the first time felt free to set goals that she knew would manifest. Overall you need to understand that change is the only thing that is constant. Especially after experiencing life in a Pandemic, there is evidence to suggest that people need tools to navigate the waters for any eventuality. As a new year dawns we have the power and strength to make things happen with goals that are important to us. All we need to do is realise that our personal power is waiting to be accessed. These are tools that help a person go from strength to strength and more than anything, works towards helping a person manifest their dreams. So go for it and make this year count, better than all the ones you left behind!
