Creating Effective People with NLPNot too long ago the corporate sector was in a global war for talent. Today we’re fighting a very different global war, one against a virus that threatens our very existence. It’s no longer about just talent, as businesses and people in the workforce struggle to stay afloat. It’s about creating effective people who can adapt and thrive in this new norm. We still need talent to drive leadership and fill pipelines for succession planning. But corporates will do well to prepare for the challenges ahead by creating effective people, from within the organisation. This strategy has been proven time and again to be the cheapest as organic growth from within, means employees already embrace the organization culture. One big tick, for this often takes years to install in a new employee. While there are multiple generations in the melting pot of people at work now, this itself may not be a bad thing. The diversity that Baby boomers, Gen X, Gen Y and Millennials bring with their different values and perspectives, is a great one! It creates a natural culture of higher tolerance towards difference which is a characteristic that is sorely lacking in today’s world. The push towards diversity is in itself one that presents its own difficulties. Having said that, effective people have some traits in common regardless of the generation they belong to and the level of seniority they are at. When conducting a Culture Change & Alignment NLP program for a client in the past, I found these traits surfaced unbeknownst to the employee. Traits of Effective People:
So, how do you start creating effective people from this group of employees? The fastest way is to look for high performers at each level of seniority in the organization. Once identified they present your formal leaders. Send them to an NLP course or better still execute a modular NLP program in your organisation. Important in the mix is to search for an NLP Trainer that fits your context, in this case corporate experience. Bit by bit in small chunks, little nuggets of NLP tools learnt will give employees the opportunity to apply tools learnt to their daily contexts at work. From conflict resolution to building rapport with the most resistant team member, these formal leaders will start the change process towards creating effective people. In a matter of months organisations will see the momentum build. As an NLP trainer, with 18 years’ experience of working with organisations, I know that creating effective people starts as a conscious effort. It has to be a CEO buy for the initiative to work with total commitment from the senior leadership team. An NLP course offers organisations a way to support their employees in tough times while giving them tools to manage change. Employees who choose to improve themselves have the potential to hit new targets never before achieved. Exponential growth after an NLP program, especially one that is conducted organization-wide is not uncommon. From employee’s feeling motivated to mobilising a team, which then impacts the organization. How does an NLP program help in creating effective people?
Most human beings struggle against these patterns as they become part of our make-up that sabotages our best efforts. An NLP trainer at an NLP course helps individuals identify and eliminate such unhelpful patterns. Some common patterns (habits as they are widely known) I’ve come across over the years, which display themselves at work are:
These behaviour patterns have negative emotions like anger or sadness attached to them. For example, you could be angry about allowing people to push you around or sad for being treated as inferior because you’re a woman. Creating effective people is as easy as helping these individuals abandon their limiting behaviour patterns by releasing the negative emotions attached. As an experienced NLP Trainer, I follow this up with a few one-on-one or small group sessions for some who need more personal attention. This unleashes them to success Countless participants in my NLP program have described this release as breaking down a brick wall that always existed in their mind. Others sense a shift, and months later, experience achieving far superior targets than before the NLP course. A Case in Point A high performer at a call centre said she was referred to as a “top performer” because she was indeed a top performer. But deep inside she felt she was nowhere near her best. She was lucky to be working for a company that decided to do a full Culture Change & Alignment project which translated into 3 to 5 modular NLP courses, within the full NLP program. Through the NLP program, this top performer became aware of a family pattern of guilt towards her parents that was holding her back. She was also aware that she had had enough of it and was ready to let go. She wrote a few months later informing me how her life had transformed, thanks to the series of NLP courses she had attended through the NLP Program installed by the company. In a matter of days, she was able to process and eliminate the unhelpful pattern. She went from top performer to a record breaking one! She said she felt that she was finally at her optimal performance. Imagine having something like this happen to your employees! Wouldn't you just love to see them fly way beyond their present performance? With a little investment to find the right NLP Trainer who will install an appropriate NLP program, you’ll have motivated your workforce and have the luxury to be surrounded by passionate employees. The question for you now is “are you creating effective people in your company?” If not, you now know that there is a solution moving forward and the ball is in your court.
