How to Get A Job in The New Normal?Do you think to get a job in the new normal is a big task ahead? Not necessarily so! You could make it easier on yourself and follow through on some of these points. 1. Decide What You Really Want This is the best opportunity to move into a job that really excites you. You may have just taken on a job in the past that paid the bills. Today with so much upheaval, employers are willing to look at your skills and hire based on your ability to make things happen. Where passion flows, intention goes! Let them see your enthusiasm and highlight your abilities that would fit into the job scope. As a nudge to get on this track of finding your purpose, an NLP course would augur well. It would help you define your identity with greater certainty and provide clarity towards the direction you seek. An NLP course would accelerate your journey to finding that path and save you time in trying to figure it all out yourself. Plus you would also meet people at the NLP course who would be in the same position as you. This support from others experiencing the same predicament as you, is usually very helpful - you find buddies to discuss and share with. 2. Ensure That YOU Are OKSo many people rush to find the next job as they are in panic mode. If your finances can afford you a bit of leeway, it pays to take a little more time for yourself. Ensure that your core stability is in place. An NLP for stress management or NLP for mental health course would be helpful in this case. Go beyond the stigma that many people carry - that hiring a coach means you are mentally unstable. What it really means is that you know your mind-body connection is not in balance and you need to align that, to make good decisions and operate at your full capacity. Today an NLP course could help in a variety of ways;
3. Design Your Resume to Suit The Job When I was a head-hunter, I could see the value of peoples’ skills and would place them in different industries knowing they would do a fine job. So as you write your resume to get a job in the new normal, it is imperative that you design a resume that sells YOU for the job you are applying for. Share with the interviewer why they should hire you. What are your skills and how will you fit in to the job at hand. Employers are a lot more savvy today than they were in the past. They would be willing to give you the job, provided your values were aligned to the company. I have often said a job can be learnt easily but what employers look for is Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence in the candidate. An NLP course would certainly teach this aspect of meaning, passion, inspiration and hone in on tools to improve communication and relationships. 4. Exude A State of Happiness Every employer looks for happy, light people who get along with others. If you feel weighed down by stress, your NLP for stress management will teach you how to eliminate anxiety in a few seconds. These self-management techniques are simple and easy to use. A course in NLP for stress management would also emphasise how to step into a state of happiness as every one of us has felt happy in our lives, so it is just a matter of associating our neurology into that again. If you do feel very negative then some one-on-one sessions maybe a better bet, as NLP for mental health would un-knot your unconscious mind and give you a greater sense of wellbeing. When you are well, you give out good vibes that employers feel as soon as they meet you. This is the non-verbal aspect of hiring that most candidates don’t realise. It is crucial to securing the job. In conclusion if you are in the market to get a job in the new normal, sharpen your intuition by opening up your senses. Access the deeper part of you to pick up signals from the market – where are the jobs, who is hiring, etc. This will give you a good start into securing a job. However the most important person is YOU and I feel that more so than ever, you will be the one who will convince the employer to hire you. So get yourself together – shine your persona and just do it! Sylvia Fernandes is the Founder & CEO of VIA Frontiers. She is a Master Trainer of NLP who is specialised in corporate applications.
