“Oh you are so lucky” was the phrase Sylvia heard hurled at her time and again. It incited a tiny bit of annoyance. They hadn’t seen her in the years she was re-designing her life. She thanked her lucky stars she rose to higher consciousness, all from a series of events that had occurred. A deep feeling of dissatisfaction with her life on every front, though from the outside most would say she had a perfect existence. A great job in the bank, fabulous friends, a wonderful social environment and more. It was precisely that. The perfect life was imperfect. She yearned for more. The earthquakes in her chest that she experienced were testimony to the fact that she had to do something. They had become too uncomfortable. In a swift decision Sylvia left her job, shedding security of a strong income. Single with no income she was going to rely on savings she had built up over the years.
And so the tumble from one job to another began. She joined a headhunting firm, learnt the ropes then left as soon as she felt she was stagnating. That was her new motto – “Leave as soon as you are not learning anything anymore.” The whole idea of reinvention was to experience. That was her ultimate goal, not knowing that she would receive a bigger unknown…..INTUITION! As she sharpened this internal tool so many never get to experience, she made faster, more efficient decisions. Six years later she found her niche and upskilled in Neuro-linguistic Programming, going all the way to becoming a Trainer in behavioural change work. By this time her intuition drove her. With keen observation she was fascinated by the question “What makes the ultimate winner? How do they stand ahead of the rest?” High flyers moved fast. Slow and steady performers gained momentum as they stepped deeper into their sense of self, their identity. The ultimate forerunner would be the one who made good fast decisions and managed time well. Both stemmed from knowing how to tap into their unconscious mind, using efficient behavior change models. It was strategic. They created their luck. Who to recruit into the team, how to motivate teams to the next level, what strategy to employ for varying scenarios – there were so many decisions to be made. This is what Sylvia was about to embark on. A culture alignment project for an organization, to create effective people. Today she had immense bandwidth of experience, having done a plethora of these over the years. These initiatives left employees with a myriad of tools to employ for every eventuality in life, hence they let go of stress and became happier individuals. They coped with the speed at which things were coming at them. They had re-balanced their mind-body-spirit connection and possessed tools to manage any situation, immediate or longer term. Agility and clarity drove the ultimate forerunner. They operated with confidence. They knew how they were in the past before they had cleared negative emotions. Unbeknownst to them so much negativity resided in their unconscious that was formed from past experience. Like a wellspring, creativity sprung to the fore after eradicating anger, sadness, fear, guilt. Like an unknotted rope, they were free to invent any shape of form they wished. This was where the fun began. They loved their job. They were happy fulfilling a deeper sense of purpose. And that was the answer to the game of life. Passion fueled them in every instance that Sylvia observed which is how they stayed ahead of the game. Like a magnet the future pulled them into a space of excitement at what lay at the end of the line. “The thing is” Sylvia thought to herself, this was available easily to anyone. Yet most didn’t know the power that lay within. Organisations that embarked on NLP programs stood to gain so much. Their people would fly to high performance, blitzing revenue many fold. It was time to raise consciousness in the masses…..and this was one surefire way! Sylvia Fernandes is the Founder & CEO of VIA Frontiers.
